HOW LONG HAS AKERS ACADEMY BEEN IN BUSINESS?

We have been proud to serve the North Forsyth community since 1996 with our first school in Cumming. Our Alpharetta campus was added in 2004 to accommodate our growing number of students.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DAY CARE AND SCHOOL OR ACADEMY?

Education, Curriculum, Professional Staff Development and Lower Teacher/Student Ratios.

IS YOUR SCHOOL ACCREDITED AND WHAT ARE THE PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS OF YOUR TEACHERS?

We are accredited by Bright from the Start and we are recognized by the National Early Childhood Program Accreditation (NECPA) for safety and cleanliness standards. All current lead teachers have college degrees and all teachers and staff are certified in Fire Safety, First Aid and Infant and Child CPR. Teachers take part in extensive local and national training courses well over the recommended 10 hours of yearly teacher training required by the state of Georgia.

Akers Academy is proud to have over 8 teachers and staff members at our schools that have been teaching for over 10 years or more with us.

DO YOU OFFER MEALS FOR STUDENTS?

All meals are included in the tuition cost (except for GA Pre K) and there is an in house chef at both schools that follow USDA standards for food handling, preparation and service. We understand that there are a variety of dietary needs in our diverse student population so we also offer a vegetarian lunch option and cater to individual food allergies. It is important to us that we not only nurture little minds but little bodies as well!

DO YOU HAVE STUDENT ASSESSMENTS AND HOW DO YOU TRANSITION STUDENTS?

At Akers Academy, we believe that each child is unique and develop in their own way. Therefore, administrators work closely with teachers to assess each student twice a year. These comprehensive written assessments align with Georgia state learning standards in the areas of literacy, math, fine/gross motor, verbal skills and overall development. Parents are welcome to discuss any academic concerns at any time with teachers and/or School Directors.

Another important area of learning is class transition. Unlike other schools that move students solely based on age, we take age and development into consideration since we understand that every child learns differently. Our developmental standards in each class are fluid so all students can be challenged academically without feeling overwhelmed.

HOW DO YOU COMMUNICATE WITH PARENTS?

Akers Academy is first and foremost a family business. You are always greeted at the front desk with a smile and any questions or concerns can be addressed with the Owner or a School Director at any time. Electronic Daily Reports go home every day detailing lessons, naps, meals, potty times and notes from the classroom. Photos and videos are also sent periodically to show what students are learning in the classroom throughout the week.

DO YOU OFFER PRE K OPTIONS AND BEYOND?

Both campuses have two GA Pre K classes and there is one Private Pre K class at our Alpharetta location. After students graduate from these classes, we do offer After School care for students in grades K-5th. We have 2 mini buses at each school that picks up from local elementary schools and we provide Summer Camp care as well.

WHAT ARE SCHOOL HOURS?

Our schools are open everyday from 6:30am-6:30pm. We have a variety of class options and times to fit every family's schedule. The only days we are closed are major holidays and the day before or after Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's.

WHAT PAYMENT OPTIONS DO YOU ACCEPT?

There are a variety of ways to pay tuition that are easy to do, even from the comfort of your own home! We have online billing options you can set up upon enrollment or you can pay at each of our schools. We accept all forms of credit cards, cash and personal checks. Please check with the school most convenient for you about individual tuition billing questions.

HOW DO I SCHEDULE A TOUR?

Tours are scheduled every day from 6:30am-6:30pm. Walk in visitors are welcome but we encourage families to schedule a tour so we can personalize your visit. Please call the school that is most convenient for you or fill out a form on our website and a member of our admissions team will be happy to contact you!
